Municipal Budget Model

Applications developed a stand alone Municipal Budget Model for the City of Fort Saskatchewan. The model included separate modules for their operating and capital budget processes; a module for staff planning which linked to the operating budget, and a customized plug-in program to generate flexible reports from all modules. The model was designed to allow input from the City's financial system, and output in a format ready for City Council. The user modules were set up to allow multiple users to access them and input detailed departmental information prior to finance staff working on the budget overall. Customized menus and user input screens included error-checking parameters at point of input. A user manual and training was provided with this product. The model was modified and enhanced over the course of four years to respond to the City's growing needs for increased complexity, functionality and flexibility.
