Municipal Population Forecasting Model

Applications’ Population Forecasting model was originally developed for the City of St. Albert has subsequently been purchased by the City of Airdrie and Lethbridge. The model has been designed to measure the growth in population attributable to both natural increase (ie. births, deaths, survival) and net migration. Three alternative population growth scenarios (Base Case, Low Growth and High Growth) can be defined to compare the results of differing assumptions affecting growth. The customized menus, data input screens and standardized reports and graphics ensure ease of use of the model. Also, a step by step guide to conducting population forecasts. This model can be incorporated with the Municipal Employment Forecasting Model to provide a complete picture of residential and non-residential growth.
