Alberta Human Services Poverty Matrix The Government of Alberta (Alberta Human Services) has been working to reduce poverty in the province. In support of this initiative, Applications has developed a comprehensive database that tracks the incidence of poverty by geography, age group and family status across four major demographic categories: Aboriginal Identity Status; Immigrant Status; Education Attainment Status; and, Mobility Status. Tracking the incidence of low income involves several measures, including LICO (Low Income Cut-Off), LIM (Low Income Measure), and MBM (Market Basket Measure) for each demographic category. The Poverty Matrix allows for policy makers to review the success various initiatives are having in reducing the incidence of low income in Alberta. |
