Women's Shelter Service Options

For Alberta Children's Services, Applications completed a review of the structure and funding model for women's shelters in the province. This analysis reviewed the approach to providing shelter services to victims of violence and abuse in other jurisdictions and the effectiveness of services provided in Alberta. Various alternate service delivery models and approaches to funding were evaluated. Applications worked with a stakeholder committee including the Alberta Council for Women's Shelters as well as a number of shelter operators.
